The Golden-Field RCMP are urging residents and business owners to take preventative measures to ensure they don’t become victims after a recent string of thefts in the area.
We are currently targeting a number of people who we believe are responsible for recent thefts, but we also want people to take steps to make sure they aren’t easy targets, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP.
Business owners both in town and rural areas are encouraged to install audible alarms that can be heard from a distance and have a working surveillance system, while residents are reminded not to leave valuable items out for the taking.
Unfortunately we can’t be everywhere all the time, so things like audible alarms and locking valuables can really make a difference.
The Golden-Field RCMP are also increasing their efforts to assist business owners by offering a new program which has an officer trained in Crime Prevention Through Enviromental Design (CPTED), conduct a property risk assessment.
Those businesses who are interested in having an CPTED assessment done are asked to contact Cst. Derrick Mcwilliams by email at: email@example.com, to set up an appointment.
