Knife wielding man taken into custody in Beaverdale area

Midway RCMP officers arrested a male following a domestic situation, where a male allegedly threatened police with a knife in the Beaverdale area,this past Saturday. 


Hwy 33 was closed off with a detour for 2.5 hours to permit police to safely deal with the situation.

On Saturday September 24, 2016 8:00 pm, the Midway RCMP attended to a home in the 5800 block of Hwy 33 in Beaverdale, for a report of a domestic disturbance between an adult male and female. When at the scene the male subject was confrontational with police and attempted to flee on foot. The Midway RCMP closed off Hwy 33 for approximately 2 ½ hours in order to deal with the intoxicated man in safe manner, as he had chosen the middle of the highway as the location to stop and confront police.

A detour was also set up to permit the police to contend with the situation and safe guard the public.

Officers eventually disarmed the uncooperative man utilizing a conducted energy weapon. The man was safely subdued, without injury and taken into custody. The man was remanded into custody and will be facing numerous charges as result.
