Air Cadet receives Long Service Medal

On January 4th 2017, Flight Sergeant Jasper Taylor of 561 Osprey Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron Nelson received his Long Service Medal.

The Long Service Medal is awarded by the Air Cadet League of Canada to Air Cadets that have completed 4 years of service with the Air Cadet Program.

This is Flight Sergeant Jasper Taylors 2nd Medal.  Last year he received the Lord Strathcona Medal.

During Flight Sergeant Taylor’s time with 561 squadron, he has attended 3 Summer Training courses.  General Training at Albert Head BC, Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace also at Albert Head, and Survival Instructor at Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake, AB.  He is currently hoping to be selected for the Power Pilot Scholarship to be held at Canadian Forces Base Comox, BC during the summer of 2017.

Currently, Flight Sergeant Taylor is the Senior Cadet in 561 Squadron and in addition to his own training, he also instructs the junior cadets.

The squadron meets every Wednesday from 6:15 pm to 9:00 pm in the Nelson Eagles Hall at 641 Baker St.

The squadron always welcomes new cadets who are between the ages of 12 and 18.

Adults who would like to volunteer with squadron or are interested one of the paid part-time positions with the squadron are also welcome.
