In the early hours, approximately 2 am, of Monday January 30th, 2017 a yellow 2015 Skidoo Summit X snowmobile was stolen from the Revelstoke area.
Police are asking the public to call the Revelstoke RCMP if they observe the sled, which was displaying B.C. Off-Road Vehicle licence plate number 2C9234 on the left side of the tunnel. The sled is bright yellow with a red “X” on the side panel of the hood. The RCMP have acquired the security surveillance videos from the theft area, and are continuing to investigate to find those person(s) responsible for the theft.
Police encourage sled owners to secure their machines when parked. It is suggested to utilize high quality locks, park vehicles strategically to reduce the risk of a sled being removed from trailers and off of trucks, park in well-lit areas, and to ensure that valuables are removed from vehicles.
It is very important to register off-road vehicles and prominently display that licence plate for identification purposes.
The Revelstoke RCMP continues to conduct active patrols of the community to reduce thefts and locate those responsible. The RCMP actively deploys the bait sled to prevent thefts of vehicles and sleds in various BC communities.
The public is asked to call either 911 if an event is occurring or the non-emergency number 250.837.5255 if they observe any suspicious activity such as sleds being moved around late at night.
