Armed suspects in ski masks rob Castlegar BC Grocery Store

It was a frightening experience for a lone female grocery store clerk last Sunday evening when two males wearing ski masks and one brandishing a firearm entered the store.

An armed robbery that occurred on Feb. 12 at Tee Jay’s Grocery Store in Castlegar BC is being investigated by the RCMP.

At approximately 6 pm Sunday, two suspects wearing Ski masks entered Tee Jay’s grocery store on 4th Street brandishing what the police are saying was a replica firearm and approached the clerk and took her into a back room and bound her arms, then proceeded to steal items including cash, lottery tickets, and cigarettes.

The robbers then fled the store in what is believed to be a smaller sized, light colored pick up truck that was parked behind the Kootenay Savings Credit Union.

The store clerk was not physically injured but obviously shaken by the incident.

Castlegar RCMP are following leads and hope to make arrests.

The robbery suspects are described as:

The first male, approximately 40 years old, approximately 5’8″ 240 pounds, wearing a red hoodie, jeans, black shoes, a ski mask, and sunglasses.

The second male, approximately 50 years old, 5’10, 160 pounds, wearing a grey hoodie, jeans, a ski mask and reading glasses. This male had white facial hair that could be seen underneath his mask.
