Sea Cadets from BC Interior meet in Trail for Seamanship Training

On the weekend of 24, 25 and 26 February 2017, Sea Cadets from throughout the Interior of British Columbia met in Trail for their Seamanship Training.

The 54 Sea cadets and 12 adult Instructors were from Trail, Nelson, Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon.

During the weekend the cadets perfected their Seamanship skills.  The skills they worked on were Rope Work (including whipping and splicing), Navigation, Communication with Flags & Pennants & Boson pipes, Rigging with Block & Tackle and Birthing.

On Sunday morning, the cadets broke into groups and did a relay competition to show off their skills.

All the cadet corps always welcomes new cadets who are between the ages of 12 and 18.

Adults who would like to volunteer with a Corp or its civilian sponsoring body are also welcome.

Quick Facts

·         There are over 1200 Sea Cadets and a total of 7100 cadets in British Columbia

·         There is little or no cost for the cadets to be a member of Cadets and Summer Training is no cost.
