Transit Driver Appreciation Day Saturday

Corporate – BC Transit operators are the dedicated professionals that keep our passengers moving safely throughout the province.

In cities and towns, they put safety, courtesy and customer service first to deliver high quality transit services that connect people and communities across British Columbia.

Though we strive to recognize their work every day, this Saturday, March 18, marks an especially important transit recognition day: international Transit Driver Appreciation Day (#TDAD). In celebration, BC Transit would like to take a moment to salute our extraordinary transit operators behind the wheel.

“Rain or shine, snow or hail, transit drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of hundreds of thousands of people,” said Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. “They get us where we need to be, and I am proud to join BC Transit, and commuters across the province, in celebrating this important event.”

In celebration of our 1,350 operators across British Columbia, BC Transit has collected stories from communities throughout the province and produced video vignettes. You can find them on BC Transit’s YouTube Channel (youtube.com/bctransitvideos), with new videos being released up until March 17. You can also share these videos from our Facebook page or Twitter feed.

“All year long, BC Transit drivers demonstrate their commitment to delivering outstanding service to communities across the province,” said BC Transit President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “March 18 marks Transit Driver Appreciation Day, and I invite our valued customers to join me in thanking our operators who work hard to deliver our vision.”
