Woman stabbed at motel on the Trans-Canada Highway

The Golden-Field RCMP are continuing to investigate a reported stabbing that occurred on May 8 at a local motel on the Trans-Canada Highway.

(RCMP RELEASE) – Police responded to the complaint just after 9:00 pm, where it was alleged that a female had been stabbed during an altercation. The victim, a 46 year-old female from Golden, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was released from hospital later that evening.

A 39 year old Calgary resident has been identified as a suspect, and was arrested by police in Calgary on May 9.

At this time we believe this was a targeted incident, in which the two parties involved were known to each other, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. There were never any concerns relating to public safety.

Two police officers from the RCMP Southeast District General Investigation Section, which is based out of Kelowna, also assisted local RCMP with the investigation.
