The 2017 Edition of the Kaslo Show and Shine will mark the 20th Anniversary that the show has been held, and we anticipate our biggest turnout ever!
As one of the first shows of the year in BC, this is a really excellent show to kick off your car show season in Kaslo’s unique setting.
Among the days activities in 2017, tentatively: a wheel changing competition with a low entry fee for teams of two people. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity. This should be a really fun event and is set up in such a way that anyone should be able to participate regardless of age, gender or stature. We also have a verbal commitment from an antique (as in Pre 1920) car club this year and anticipate seeing a dozen or more of these vehicles in attendance. They will be displayed in front of the CPR Paddle Wheeler “Moyie” which was in daily service on Kootenay lake from the late 1800’s until 1957 and is now a fully restored National monument.
Last year, in spite of a drizzly day we had just over 80 cars show up and as we approach our twenty year anniversary in 2017, increasing attendance is a trend we would like to see continue. So, if you’re looking for a cool show to kick off the 2017 season hop on over to the pre-registration page HERE and fill out an online registration.
The Kaslo Show and Shine was started by a small group of dedicated car buffs as a feature in the 1997 May Days celebrations held on the May long weekend every year. The inaugural event had approximately 15 vehicles on display and from that small beginning has been held every year since and has seen continuous growth to the point that in 2012 there were just under 100 registered cars covering the years from the 1930′s up to some exceedingly rare Mustangs from the 1960′s and 1970′s
Kaslo is a village of about 1000 people, situated about an hours drive North of Nelson BC on the West Shore of Kootenay Lake and nestled between the Purcell mountains to the East and the Selkirk range to the West. For a small community Kaslo has an unusually high number of interesting and unique vehicles both in the village and in the surrounding area and has counted among its residents one of only two original Shelby Cobras licensed in BC amongst other interesting vehicles.
Over the years the Show and Shine has began to attract cars from further afield and has seen cars from as far afield as Spokane, Vancouver BC and the Prairie Provinces of Canada.
If you are an old car or hot rod fan – or owner – you are encouraged to add Kaslo to your calendar of must see events.
