Revenue Canada Scam Alert still active

The Nelson Police Department has recently received numerous complaints from the public regarding telephone calls being received from someone representing the Canada Revenue Agency and/or a collection agency. 

The caller requests personal information (including Social Insurance Numbers) from the public.  The Nelson Police Department wishes to advise the public that these callers are not associated to the Canada Revenue Agency and have been confirmed to be a scam.

The Nelson Police Department strongly encourages anybody receiving these telephone calls to not provide any personal information.  If any members of the public unwittingly provide any personal information or receive deceptive telemarketing, please contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

The Nelson Police Department has recently received numerous complaints from the public regarding bears in various parts of the City.  The Nelson Police Department would like to remind the public that this is the time for bears to be looking for food and to ensure that garbage, compost and waste products are disposed of in a secure manner to avoid any possible confrontations with wildlife.
