Flathead Wild: Commerical Lodge Proposal Defeated

(Wildsight) Thanks to you, the Flathead stays wild! Just last week, we told you about a proposal for 2 lodges, 22 cabins and guided tours in the remote reaches of the Flathead Valley—an area long proposed as a wilderness protected area.

Hundreds sent messages opposing the development and the public pressure convinced the developer to withdraw their application. Your emails worked.

And earlier this year, we asked you to speak up against a lodge proposal at the old fire lookout on Gibraltar Mountain which threatened bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and grizzlies. The lodge proposal was recently denied based on the threats to wildlife. So if it feels like your public comments are just shouting into the void, don’t despair—speaking up works!
