Person arrested & charged with theft and causing a disturbance

On 17/06/28 at approximately 1328 hours, the Nelson Police Department received a call for service in the 400 block of Baker St for a theft complaint…

A male known to police had reportedly stolen property from a merchant during the weekly Baker Street market.

Shortly after, at approximately 1345 hours, the Nelson Police Department received a call for service at the Chahko Mika Mall for a male harassing staff and attempting to start a fight in one of the businesses.  Upon police arrival, the male was identified as the same male from the earlier theft.  The male was arrested and subsequently charged with theft and causing a disturbance.  The male is known to police as being transient having only been in the Nelson area for a short period of time.  The male was held for a bail hearing that will occur later this week.

Police seize narcotics

On 17/06/28 at approximately 2117 hours, Nelson Police Department members were flagged down in the 500 block of Baker St and advised two males were observed acting suspicious and possibly doing drugs in the 600 block of Herridge Lane.  Upon police arrival, two males were located and one of the males was determined to be in possession of narcotics which were being prepared for use.  Police seized the located narcotics and the investigation is continuing for possible charges.

Possible charges after two females using drugs in local public washroom

On 17/06/29 at approximately 1212 hours, the Nelson Police Department received a call for service for two females using drugs in a local public washroom.  Upon police arrival, police confirmed that one of the females had consumed drugs, subsequently the female was transported to the local hospital for assessment.  In addition, other various narcotics were seized from the female and the investigation is ongoing for possible charges.
