UPDATED: 5:25 AM PST Thursday 16 November 2017 – Kootenay Pass and Paulson summit are getting hit hard with heavy snowfall. Poor driving conditions are reported. Check DriveBC before heading out if you must travel on these portions of Highway 3 – Snowfall with total amounts of 30 to 35 cm expected..

A stalled front over southeastern BC continues to produce snow over Kootenay Pass with approximately 34 cm (15 inches) already accumulated. A further 5 cm is expected before the snow eases to flurries later this morning

Snowfall warning in effect for: Elk Valley

Snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 25 cm.

A stalled front over southeastern BC produced heavy snow over the Elk Valley region overnight with Sparwood receiving approximately 20 cm accumulation. An additional 2 to 4 cm is expected before the snow eases later this morning.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
