10-Year-old’s body found after car crashes into Arrow Lake in southeast BC

TMTV.NET  Nakusp BC – Published at 10:17 AM Dec 29  (RCMP) – The search for a 10 year old boy who was believed to have gone into the water with a vehicle near Halcyon Hot Springs in the West Kootenay area of Southeast BC on December 27th, has been concluded. (Link to original release here)

On Thursday morning, December 28th the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team arrived to assist Search and Rescue teams in locating the vehicle and the missing 10 year old. Just after the underwater search commenced, the vehicle with the body of the 10 year old boy was recovered.

The West Kootenay Traffic Services Unit, with assistance from Nakusp RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident. BC Coroners Service will determine cause of death; due to the privacy of the deceased, identity will not be released or confirmed at this time.

Sgt. Monty Taylor of the Kootenay Boundary Regional District RCMP states, This is a tragic end to a family’s holiday season, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and their extended network of family and friends.

Police are still seeking witnesses to this incident. If you were in the area of Halcyon Hot Springs or traveling on Highway 23 near Arrow Lake on December 27th, 2017 or have any information about the red Toyota Matrix traveling in this area, you are asked to contact the Nakusp RCMP at (250)265-3677.
