Suspect flees in stolen vehicle near Grand Forks, arrested hours later in Midway

Mounties catch their man after suspect flees arrest…

At approximately 3:00 p.m. Grand Forks RCMP members responded to a complaint of a theft of vehicle in progress near
Interfor in Grand Forks.

The complainant was able to provide a description of a suspect and the vehicle the suspect was
operating. A short time later Grand Forks RCMP members attempted to stop the vehicle on Central Avenue in Grand
Forks, but the vehicle fled westbound on Highway #3 towards Greenwood.

The vehicle was located a short time later in Greenwood by members of the Midway RCMP. Due to the risk to the public the vehicle was not pursued. At
approximately 6:00 p.m. the vehicle was located in Midway parked at the arena, but the suspect had fled the area.
Grand Forks RCMP, Midway RCMP and a police dog made attempts to locate the suspect for several hours.
At 11:00 p.m. members of the Midway RCMP located the male suspect after receiving information on his location. The
suspect fled from Midway members on foot and was arrested without incident after he was located hiding in a shed on
private property.

Grand Forks RCMP are recommending numerous charges against the male suspect including Flight from the Police,
Obstruct/Resist Police, Drive while Prohibited, Attempted Theft of a Vehicle, and Possessing Break and Enter tools. In
addition the suspect has several warrants out of Ontario. Midway RCMP are assisting with the investigation.
